Social isolation among older adults is a growing public health crisis — and the numbers today are even more alarming than previously reported. In 2024, 33% of adults aged 50–80 felt lonely, and 29% felt socially isolated, levels that remain stubbornly high even after the pandemic.

How We Started
From a Spark of Compassion to a Thriving Community
Thrive Pavilion was founded by a small group of volunteers who witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of social isolation on older adults — especially during and after the pandemic years.
We discovered that virtual reality offered something remarkable: the ability to bring people together across thousands of miles in a space that felt genuinely present and alive. A game of chess, a morning stretch class, a casual coffee chat — all of it suddenly possible regardless of mobility, geography, or circumstance.
Today, Thrive Pavilion hosts dozens of events every month, welcoming adults 50+ from around the globe into a warm, supportive community that feels like home.
